Why do all my jobs exit instantaneously without producing any output?

Make sure you are running your script from your interactive job. Your terminal should look like:

sgl@nid00896:/scratch3/scratchdirs/sgl/workshop> #I can run jobs from here!

But not:

sgl@cori05:/scratch3/scratchdirs/sgl/workshop> #But not here..

Also, make sure you updated your .bashrc.ext or .cshrc.ext according to the instructions, and that you logged off and logged in again to Cori.

What's the full workflow for a typical GW-BSE calculation?

How do I produce plots?

You can use gnuplot, which is available on Cori without any additional modules, or python+matplotlib, which can be loaded once you execute module load python. Note that, in order to visualize the plots, you'll need to either have an X11 emulator installed in your laptop, or save your plots as vector files on Cori and copy them back to your laptop. If you have a MacBook, a XQuartz bug will probably prevent you from viewing plots from Cori remotely so you'll have to copy them and view locally.

Alternatively, you can also use Jupyter during the workshop.

How can I get BerkeleyGW working on my cluster or other supercomputer?

During the workshop days, you can download BerkeleyGW-3.0.1 and try to compile it. This version is almost identical to the version 2.1-beta that will be used during the workshop.
